Cunnamulla to Wanaaring. A distance of 290 kms, of which almost half of it was gravel road.  We leave Cunnamulla about 9.30 and there are so many caravans and campers on the road. We stop at a little place called Eulo, and the main street is almost tow bar to bumper caravans and tourists.  This little town, was once an opal town, on the banks of the Paroo River, and had a few pubs in it in its hay day. Today, there is just one pub, and  store selling opal pieces and some jewerlly, and a Leather craft and quilting shop, owned buy a husbanc and wife. The wife makes handbags, that are made from Kangaroo hide. We help the economy of the town and buy a coffee.  On the road again, and we turn towards Hungerford. We have bitumen for a short time, and then we find the DIRT.  We make another stop so the dogs and Bob can have a comfort stop and the dogs have a run and play.  Back travelling again, and we notice that the coulds are starting to build up and not long af...

We manage to sleep in a bit this morning, getting up at around 8.15. The camper bed is nice and cosy and warm, so we managed to miss the cold morning this morning. After we have s bit of breakfast and coffee, we venture into the town centre and have a pic taken with the Cunnamalla Fella. A huge statue of a country man, sitting on a swag. There are a lot of tourists doing the same as us, getting the pic taken, and going to the information centre to find out what is around. We take a walk about the town, and make a couple of purchases, one, a fan heater, to warm up the camper and the second a larger battery charger so we can charge the battery that is in the back of the ute. The one that Bob bought with us is a baby one, and is just not doing enough to keep the battery charged. We also stopped at the local butcher, and buy some steak for tea. We take a drive around the town and then just out of town, we find a good area to let the dogs out and have a run around, and comfort stop. ...

An earlier start this morning, as we have to be all packed up and gone by before 9am so we can go to the Bilby experience. It is a bit cool again this morning. and we manage to get everything packed up just in time for the Bilby's.  The Bilby experience we very good, and they are so cute, and it is very interesting learning about them and the efforts involved in preserving them, as they are on the brink of extintion. We learned some interesting facts about how many wild cats there are, 20 million in australia, foxes: 4 million and  Rabbits, 8 million. All have a huge impact on the well being of the Bilbys.  We leave the information center around 10 am and are on our way to Cunnamulla, a distance of 199 kms. We travel for around 30 mins, and come across the explosion site of where a truck of Nitrate exploded. The truck was carring 53 tonnes of ammonium Nitrate and caught fire, which caused an explosion which was felt over 30 kms away. Amazingly, no-one, the truck driver an...

A quiet day today.  We went into town and had a snack at the local bakery. Again, this bakery was very busy, and people were lined up outside to buy their supplies. We managed to find a table and eat  in. Was very nice. After that we went back to the discount shop and bought a couple of things, a dog coat for Jack, a beanie and gloves for Bob, it was somewhat cool this morning, with a temp of 1 degrees.   We then went and found the tourism information centre, Bob  tried to book into the Bilby experience but it was fully booked, so we were squeezed us in for tomorrow morning at 9am.  We then went and found the RSL and I  was quite surprised at how big it was. We went in and booked a table for tea tonight, as it is the second game of the state of Origin, and thought it would be agood place to watch it on TV, given that we don't have that luxury with us.  Next we check out the Observatory, that is fully booked out untill the 11th of July. So we won't...

Today starts with a morning cuppa with Jenny and Shane, and a brief visit from Annette, Jenny's sister, my cousin. They are going to do a concrete sculpture course, over the weekend. After they leave, we soon depart from Jenny and Shane, and head into town.  Shane was telling us that there have a bit of a mouse problem out there at the moment, but not as bad as what is happening in NSW. In one night Shane trapped close to 400 mice. So after we leave, we know what he will be doing throughout the day, emptying and resetting mice traps.  We are headed for a store in town called Ace Drapers. It is a tourist mecca for many, as it has so many items crammed inside it, and only the owner knows where everything is. It ranges from Fabrics to all manner of craft items and household items. This store was around when I was growing up in the town as a teenager, and it is a family owned business and has been for many years. I am chasing a particular colour of yarn for a blanket I am crocheti...

25th June 2021 Today starts with Bob checking on Jack. Yesterday, While Bob and I were watering our fruit trees Jack decides to take himself off down the paddock to  have a swim in the dam, and what ever else Jack does while he is down there. After we have finished watering the said plants, Jack comes back up to the house, and is panting heavily and has some blood on his neck and is all disheveled. He plants himself on the back of the Ute, in the compartment that he usually travels in, as it seems to be the practice of both dogs nowadays, to get into the Ute if the tailgate is down. It appears as though he has had some form of altercation with another dog or something. So Bob and I continue to do more packing and sorting for our trip, go inside and settle for the evening, having some dinner and watching the news. I go out and check on Jack, and he doesn’t stir. I touch him and still nothing, talk to him a little louder and he is non responsive. Oh my, I have a horrible feeling that...

Today is the first day of my holidays, in which we are about to embark on an adventure out to Camerons Corner, tomorrow, with our two dogs, Jack and Floss.  This trip has been in the planning for over 10 mths, and my ute has been transformed into a vehicle that looks like it is going on an adventure. Bob has been gradually doing alterations to it, that will be servicable for our journey. My ute now has a roof rack on it, in which various items will be carried, such as a spare tyre, Max trax, Shovel, Steel box with tools and the like inside it.  The tub area now has a set of four draws which will be used for storage, and with a separate space for the dogs to ride in, and sleep in aswell. Also, there has been added inside the drawers frame, a air compressor, a power inverter, and switches for the led lights that Bob has put on the oustide of the ute.  The ute now also has a canvas canopy around part of it, so this serves as protection from the elements and also some s...
