This morning I take the dogs for their morning walsk and toilet needs. I have been taking the dogs for a walk to where the cementry is, and this morning I notice a fenced off area surrounding and there are three trees within this space. Walking over closer I read a little plaque, stating that this is an Indigenous cementry. I have never come across anything like this before, but not that I am near to many cementries and find it a little interesting. There are a couple of names of indigenous people buried there.
After some breakfast, we get busy packing up the camper and ute, heading on to Longreach. This is a distance of 315 kms.
We have a couple of stops, the first one at Jundah, which has this amazingly large service station shop, which seems to be somewhat new. There is someone who makes proper coffee, a barister, so we sit and have a coffee and a toasted sandwich and then head off again. We are now travelling in more of the channel country, and there are a few dips in the road, but the road is mostly very straight. The country side doesn't change a real lot, and when we stop again, for a pit stop for the dogs, I take over driving duties. There are a few caravans on the road heading the same direction that we are, and there are a few going in the opposite direction also, aswell as a couple of trucks, pulling three trailers.
We arrive in Longreach about 1.30, and the van park is crazy busy. there are caravans lined up outside waiting to get inside, and when we get in, it is just like a tin of sardines. There are vans and cars slotted into what every space there is available. There is even a van out on the road with a power lead going to it. I was told that they arrived yeserday, and that was what they were given.
We find our spot, but the people that are going to be behind us have to wait so we can manover into our site. It is amazing to see so many people exploring the outback
We set up camp, and then we do a bit of a drive, there is a weird noise coming from under the bonnet of the ute, and Bob says that it needs power steering fluid, and while we are out and about, we go to a steel place to try and find a bracket for the sidestep to atach back to the bullbar, as it was shaken off going to Cameron Corner.somehwere. But to no avail there, so we go chasing some power steering fluid and go to a servo and refuel the ute aswell. Bob puts the fluid in, and presto, the noise is gone.
When we get back to the camp, I start to make some bookings for the qantas museum, and the Stockmans Hall of Fame, as we hear that so many things are booked out weeks ahead. I manage to get us into the qantas founders Museum tomorrow morning, and the Hall of Fame on Friday at 12pm. There are many other things that could be done, like the Cobb amd Co stage coach experience, and the river cruises, but they are booked out for a couple weeks. It is almost like if you want to come out here for these things, you book when you can get in, and then plan your holiday time around that.
I cook dinner, and the place is very noisy, what with all the people around.
We watch movies until bedtime.
