This moring, Bob takes the dogs for a drive for their comfort stop, and then we get ourselves ready to go to the qantas Museum. We arriver there just beore time, and there are a good few people reay and waiting to go inside. The doors open, and we all enture in after we have done the mandatory covid 19 sign in. There is a big space filled withbits of planes and displays of what things were like back when qantas we starting up. There are vidoes playing of people who were about and knew the founders of qantua and had some stories about them. We go out of the main area, and have a look at a plane that is outside and head over to the heritage listed hanger, which is 100 years old this year. It is very draughty in there, and in a side room there is a film playing of the history of qantas being told by
It is truely remarkable that qantas was founded by two ww1 pilots that came home after fighting in the war, and didn't know what to do with themselves, and then decided to start a flight service for queensland, and out of this came the RFDS.
After we finish viewing the museum, we go into the cafe, and have coffee and scones, and then we head back to camp. The plan was that Bob would in th e afternoon, go and have a look at the powerhouse museum, and I would have a look about the town center. I felt it would not be my cup of tea, but afterhe has his poppy nap, we decide to go into town together, as it is appears to be coming into a shower of rain. So we head into the business centre of Longreach and walk about the shops. There are many shops targeting the tourists of the town, with souvineers, and all things country. I make a purchase in the cheap shop, of another dog cushion for the dogs as they seem to be argueing over who is going o sit on the existing one they have. We notice that there is a chinese resturant, and also an Indian resturant. We have a look inside the chinese, and ponder whether to have take away or sit in, and I decide we will take the dogs for a comfort stop again, and come back and sit in for dinner.
Well this little chinese resturant is very very busy, and like a lot of chinese resturants, they do an amazing amount of takeaways. Bob notices that while we have been sittng there, the owner has turned away about 4 patrons, as he can't seat them. While we are waiting we make some decisions about where we are going to go next. The idea has been floated that we leave tomorrow, after we have been to the Hall of Fame. So we look at the map and places that could be a possiblity, and decide on going to Willows gemfields. Bob makes a call to see if there is a vacancy for us and our camper, for two nights as yes there is, so that is the plan for tomorrow. We have decided to do this as we were going to go and visit my sister, but she has messaged me and said that they are not well out there and did we want to visit while they were sick. I messeged her back and said we would catch up another time. So this will put us ahead of our scheduled time back home, as we only stayed 2 days at Cameron Corner when we allowed 3, and we allowed 3 days here in Longreach, but now only staying for 2. and we were to be 2 days a Linda's, but not there is no days with her.
The food is very good, and when we have finished eating, we ask the owner how long her has been in the shop, and he answers 18 years, but the owner before him was his great uncle. It was good to not have to cook or washup afterwards.
Movies for the rest of the night.
